Finally an update. . .

Baby Jace has been quite the busy busy boy. His bright brown eyes have been traveling from Vernal, to American Fork, to Vernal, to American Fork, to Kentucky, to American Fork, to Vernal, to American Fork and will soon be heading to Vernal again and then Texas. He loves the traveling. Me, not quite as much. Of course maybe if the little munchkin could pack his own stuff things woud be different.

He posed for some professional pictures. He loved it. Can you tell?

He met his great grandparents and aunts in Kentucky and had a wonderful visit.

That's me, his mom, not one of his great grandparents. Sometimes I like to put pictures of myself on here. Is that so wrong?

That's our little family.

He grew out of his bouncy seat, to the sadness of his mother.

He tried his hand at being a nun.

And now he sits in his little booster/high chair and eats (and spits out) solid food.

Some random pictures

Learning to roll over is quite an accomplishment. However it does interfere with nap time just a bit. I put Jace down for a nap and thought he was sound asleep. . . but then I heard some noise coming from his room. I went in to find the above picture. That does not look like napping to me. In the picture below you can see that although he cannot crawl, he can still squirm his away around. His bed (blankets on the floor. The crib wasn't set up yet and I was busy doing stuff in my room. I thought the blankets on the floor would be a good idea.) was supposed to be right in the middle of that yellow blanket. I don't know how he got where he is. But he sure is proud of himself.
Granny, thanks for the ladybug toy thing. He's doesn't quite know what to do with it but he likes sitting in it.

Remember the blah toy from one of the first blogs? If you don't rememer, you might need to look at that one again. He wasn't such a fan of his "blah dinosaur". But now he loves it. (And no, I didn't just put it in his hand for the picture. He really fell asleep like that)

The Trip to Texas

Hutto, Texas, home of the Hippos. Does that picture look like, "Seve, make sure you just get him and the hippo"??? Not so much.
And does this picture look like, "Seve, take another one just to make sure you get all of the hippo"???? Perhaps Seve should not consider a career in photography.

Baby Jace and the Adventure of the Flailing Hands

Baby Jace discovers his hands. They had always been there, always with him. These two, uncontrollable balled up fists that seemed to flail about as if not connected to his body. But one day, he discovers that they are connected to his body. He moves his arm in front of his face. . . and the hand moves with it. Ahh, he watches with awe. This is an incredible discovery, he thinks.
With these hands, he can do anything! He can change the world!. . . Or at least suck on his fist as a way of comforting himself.

But one day Baby Jace decides that these interesting hands must be good for something else. He thinks about a time when he was placed under dangling toys. He wanted to hit those toys with his hands. But it was a struggle to accomplish even that much. There has to be way, he decides. There has to be a way to control these hands. So, after much debate, he makes the decision to go and visit the Great Wise Andy. Baby Jace has heard of this Great Wise Andy and knows that he has much knowledge. The Great Wise Andy will know what to do about the hands.

He travels day and night in search of the Great Wise Andy, who, it is said, resides in a mystical place called “The Cage.” Finally, Baby Jace reaches his destination. It is night and dark and scary. He hears a noise!

He whirls around and sees a dark and furry monster looming over him! He wants to scream but no sound comes out. Finally he says, “Are you the Great Wise Andy?”

"Yes,” the furry monster replies. “Why have you come seeking me?”
“I come in peace,” Baby Jace says.
“I am wondering if you might tell me the purpose of these hands. I know they must be good for something, but all I do is suck them. I cannot seem to control them. Can you help me?” The Great Wise Andy is quiet for a long time.
Finally he says, “You, and only you, can learn to control your hands. You must work hard until you accomplish this control. But remember this: your hands are very powerful. You must use them for good. There are many who choose to use their hands for that which is not good."
"Now go, and use them well."
Yes, Baby Jace thinks as he travels home. He will learn to control his hands, and he will use them for good. It will not be easy, he knows. But soon he will learn to control them.

And he is learning, just as the Great Wise Andy said he should.

2 months already!

Two months old already. Funny how times flies by much more quickly when you're not vomiting every other meal. Jace had his two month appointment this morning. He nows weighs 11 lbs and is 22 and 1/2 inches. He's getting so big! He's growing out of some of his newborn stuff. I'm sad and happy about that at the same time. Below you will see a cute little picture of him enjoying a nice soothing bath. The goods are pretty much covered so as not to embarrass the little guy too much.

And yes, he is trying to stick his whole fist into his mouth. He's a fist sucker. Not so much a thumb sucker, although I did catch him sucking his thumb the other day. I think that was by accident. But he loves that fist. I've tried to substitue a pacifier instead and he's okay with that for a little while. . . but I guess nothing compares to a good old fist!

The grumpy pants

Happy or grumpy? I couldn't really tell at first. A few minutes later, though, I was pretty sure it was the latter.
So after Jace made it known that he was definitely grumpy, I thought I would cheer him up with his little green dinosaur that says, "Blah" when you squeeze its belly.

It was not quite the successful cheering up that I hoped it would be.

The cousins

Jace and his cousin Bowman are about four months apart. Which means when they are old enough to play together, they will probably be little stinkers. Right now, Bowman is enthralled with Jace and would like nothing more than to grab any part of Jace's body and squeeze. You can't really tell from the picture, but in the one with Jace sitting in his bouncy seat, Bowman is using every ounce of force in his body to try to get to Jace.

The baby blessing

We had Jace's baby blessing on July 20th. We were so blessed to have so much family here. Brice's parents were here from Kentucky and my parents were here from Texas, plus all of the family we have around here. . . turned out to be quite a crowd. I have to say I felt pretty popular. The blessing was really wonderful and Jace did not scream or cry or anything like that. In case you think he's wearing a dress think again. It's actually a gown. And it was the gown that Brice's grandfather was blessed in and Brice and all of his siblings were blessed in. A seventy year old gown. Pretty cool, huh?

Catching the smile

Today we were trying to capture a picture of Jace smiling. At first we were unsuccessful. But then. . .
